Soft, fluffy homemade sweet rolls swirled with a bright orange-sugar filling and topped with a smooth, citrusy orange glaze.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Filling:
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • Glaze:
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 12 tbsp heavy cream (optional for thickness)


Instructions

  1. Combine yeast and warm milk in a bowl and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add sugar, softened butter, salt, eggs, and 2 cups of flour. Mix well.
  3. Add remaining flour gradually and knead 5–7 minutes until soft dough forms.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Roll dough into a 16×12-inch rectangle.
  6. Spread butter over the dough; sprinkle with sugar and orange zest.
  7. Roll up tightly from the long edge and slice into 12 rolls.
  8. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise 30 minutes.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  10. Whisk powdered sugar, orange juice, zest, and cream into a glaze.
  11. Pour glaze over warm rolls before serving.
