Description

An easy, gooey dessert made by layering pecan pie filling, cake mix, and butter to create a rich, caramel-like dump cake with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (21 oz each) pecan pie filling or 1 large can plus extra pecans
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread pecan pie filling evenly over the bottom of the dish.
  3. Sprinkle chopped pecans over the filling.
  4. Optional: Stir vanilla and cinnamon into the filling for extra flavor.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the top—do not stir.
  6. Pour melted butter evenly across the cake mix, ensuring most areas are moistened.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbly.
  8. Cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, add an additional 1/2 cup pecans on top before baking.
  • Substitute spice cake mix for a deeper flavor.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated for 20–30 seconds in the microwave.
