Description
Crispy fried shrimp tossed in a sweet and spicy hot honey glaze, perfect as an appetizer or main dish.
Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1–2 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
Instructions
- Pat the shrimp dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- In one bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, paprika, and garlic powder.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs with buttermilk.
- Dip shrimp into the egg mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture until well coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove shrimp and drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, warm honey, butter, hot sauce, and chili flakes until combined.
- Toss fried shrimp in the hot honey sauce until evenly coated.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
- Adjust hot sauce for desired spice level.
- Serve with lemon wedges or ranch dressing.
- Best enjoyed fresh for maximum crispiness.
