These delicious soft-baked maple donut bars combine the comforting flavor of maple-glazed donuts with the tender texture of cake bars. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert, they’re topped with a silky maple glaze for a bakery-style treat at home.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp maple extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup (for glaze)
- 1-2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, oil, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
- Add eggs, sour cream, milk, vanilla extract, and maple extract. Mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth and pourable.
- Spread the glaze over the cooled bars, let it set, then slice into squares or bars.
Notes
- Use pure maple syrup for the best flavor.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle chopped pecans on top of the glaze before it sets.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer shelf life.
