Description

These delicious soft-baked maple donut bars combine the comforting flavor of maple-glazed donuts with the tender texture of cake bars. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert, they’re topped with a silky maple glaze for a bakery-style treat at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp maple extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1-2 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, oil, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
  4. Add eggs, sour cream, milk, vanilla extract, and maple extract. Mix until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.
  9. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth and pourable.
  10. Spread the glaze over the cooled bars, let it set, then slice into squares or bars.

Notes

  • Use pure maple syrup for the best flavor.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle chopped pecans on top of the glaze before it sets.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer shelf life.
