Description
Crispy Fried Burrata with Spicy Honey is a decadent appetizer featuring creamy burrata coated in crunchy breadcrumbs, fried until golden, and drizzled with sweet and spicy honey.
Ingredients
- 2 balls burrata cheese
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Oil for frying
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp lemon zest (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
Instructions
- Drain burrata gently and pat dry with paper towels.
- Place burrata in freezer for 15–20 minutes to firm slightly.
- Season flour with salt and black pepper.
- Dredge burrata in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat in breadcrumbs.
- For extra crispiness, repeat egg and breadcrumb coating.
- Heat oil to 175°C (350°F).
- Carefully fry burrata for 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Warm honey slightly and stir in red pepper flakes.
- Place fried burrata on a serving plate, drizzle with spicy honey, sprinkle lemon zest if using, and garnish with basil.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Freeze briefly to prevent cheese from melting too quickly.
- Serve with toasted bread or crostini.
- Adjust red pepper flakes for desired heat level.
