Ingredients

  • 2 balls burrata cheese
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp lemon zest (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Drain burrata gently and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Place burrata in freezer for 15–20 minutes to firm slightly.
  3. Season flour with salt and black pepper.
  4. Dredge burrata in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat in breadcrumbs.
  5. For extra crispiness, repeat egg and breadcrumb coating.
  6. Heat oil to 175°C (350°F).
  7. Carefully fry burrata for 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Warm honey slightly and stir in red pepper flakes.
  10. Place fried burrata on a serving plate, drizzle with spicy honey, sprinkle lemon zest if using, and garnish with basil.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Freeze briefly to prevent cheese from melting too quickly.
  • Serve with toasted bread or crostini.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes for desired heat level.
